About K9 Kommander

The choke collar concept goes back to the time of ancient Egypt, when the trainers of the Pharaoh’s hunting dogs used slip knot collars made of leather to train and control their keeps. Today the slip knot chocker is still used, and the material of choice is now the choker chain and its more aggressive version, the prong collar. Both of the devices have their pros and cons. The chain choker is easy to put on the animal, but conversely easily slides off the animals head. It also is not aggressive and dogs can overcome its discomfort level and pull the user. The more aggressive prong collar is much more difficult to put on the dog; hence users may tend to abandon its use. Both of these devices are slow to return to a comfort position after the correction procedure is made due to the fact that they use their weight and gravity to release the applied pressure.

The K9 KOMMANDER combines the aggressiveness of the prong collar, with the quick connect feature of the chain choker, while providing a method of adjusting the fit of the collar, so it will not slide off. We have also built in a feature which uses stainless steel spring coils, which mechanically returns the collar to the comfort position.
